RESILIENCE: A 9/11 Story by Thomas Magee
After 17 years Tommy, as he is known to his friends, decided to formally share his experience as a volunteer with all the first responders, police officers, firemen, and construction workers in “the pit” on the 14 acre site that the World Trade Center once stood. A recovery and rescue mission of superhuman efforts.
His non-profit foundation, Resiliencefoundation.org, was born of this whole experience. Its’ mission is to educate and advocate for the first responder community as well as teach future generations about this historical event by organizing school trips to the 9/11 Museum.
His book is inspiring, hopeful and at times comical. Your community library has several copies on the local author shelf waiting for you to read his story. He is your neighbor and one of many local heroes. We here at the Community Library are very proud to know him.
