Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library offers a 3D printing services for patrons. All you need to do is pick or create your file and send it to us for approval through our online form, which you can find here. Then, a Digital Services staff member will slice your file and have it printed. We also have a QR code for the 3D printing form, which you can scan from your cellphone camera.
3D Printing FAQ
- Can I come in and use the 3D printer?
Patrons cannot handle our printers directly. We can show you how we use the printers, and you can watch your object be printed. All you need to do is send us your file through the 3D printing form and we will take care of the rest!
- Is there a fee for 3D printing?
3D printing is priced according to weight in grams. Our fee is 10 cents per gram.
- Where can I find designs?
You are welcome to print original designs. You can also find designs on open-source websites such as Thingiverse or Thangs.
- Where can I create designs?
TinkerCAD and SelfCAD are two options for free 3D printing software.
- What file type do I need for 3D printing?
.stl, .obj and .thing are the accepted formats.
- Is there a printing limit?
Yes, printing time is limited to a maximum of 3 hours per print.
- How do I print?
You would submit the file for review using the online form on our website. Upon approval, you will be notified of a print price and pickup time.
