The Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library offers a variety of electronic resources that you can access right from home, all you need is your library card. When it’s cold this winter and you don’t want to leave the house, the library has plenty of content you can enjoy from the comfort of your home. In order to ensure full use of your library’s electronic resources, please confirm that your account is up to date and in good standing (not expired, no outstanding fines). Some electronic resources require you to sign in with a PIN/password. To receive an email to reset your library PIN, click here. Note: If you do not have an email address on your library card account, you will not be able to receive an email to reset your pin.

eBooks and eAudiobooks

  • Live-brary offers free access to thousands of eBooks and eAudiobooks! To view the collection, read books, or listen to audiobooks using your computer, click here.
  • Libby is designed to make borrowing and enjoying eBooks and audiobooks from your public library easier than ever!  To begin using, download the Libby by Overdrive App in your app store today.
  • Hoopla Digital has eBooks and eAudiobooks available for streaming or download, in addition to its collection of TV and movies!
  • SimplyE: NYPL’s E-Reader App developed by The New York Public Library, SimplyE is a free, open source e-reader app that allows us to bring together our entire collection of more than 300,000 e-books and audiobooks and make them accessible all in one place.

eMagazines

  • PressReader is an online newspaper and magazine resource. Read online or download more than 7,000 of the world’s top newspapers and magazines from 150 countries (popular titles include The Guardian, Newsweek, Der Tagesspiegel, El Razon, and China Daily) and in more than 60 languages. No limits on downloads. They’re yours to keep forever.
  • Flipster Magazines is a next-generation digital magazine solution that makes it easy for you to read your favorite magazines from any computer, laptop, or mobile device, as long as you are connected to the Internet.  Flipster’s collection of over 100 titles includes popular magazines such as: TIME, PEOPLE, Real Simple and Sports Illustrated.

Stream and Download Music

  • Freegal Music is a free music streaming service from your public library. All you need is your library card number. Freegal offers access to over 18 million songs, including Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists. In total, the collection is comprised of music from over 93,000+ labels with music that originates in over 100 countries. Songs downloaded will play in Windows Media Player, iTunes, and other popular music players. Downloaded music can also be transferred to an MP3 player or an iPod. Freegal Music limits song downloads to FIVE per library customer per week.

Stream Movies

  • Kanopy is an entertainment streaming service offered by the library. Find movies, documentaries, foreign films, classic cinema, independent films and educational videos that inspire, enrich and entertain.
